Kevin Coon, managing partner of Bakery & McKenzie's Toronto role, has been elected to a three-year term as chair of the house's global policy committee, which works with the firm'due south executive commission on policy matters and the strategic management of the Firm.
Coon's exercise embraces the interpretation and application of local and international labour, ideals, compliance, man rights and employment laws and practices, advising corporate, government and not-for-profit organizations.

Chan was most recently main of staff to the Government minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation. Earlier that, he was manager of strategy and operations in the office of the premier. Prior to joining the provincial regime, Milton served as enforcement counsel at IIROC.
Clayton is a police clerk who was nearly recently at a major national police force firm. She is a beau of the Law Clerks of Ontario and the International Practice Management Clan.
Tufford, previously at Institutional Shareholder Services, has joined as governance enquiry analyst focusing on board evaluations.
Tim Duholke and Howard Kellough honoured past Canadian Tax Foundation
The Canadian Tax Foundation has bestowed its most prestigious honour, the Lifetime Contribution Honour, on Tim Duholke and Howard Kellough of DLA Piper Canada.
Duholke, who also holds the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medial, is a senior taxation advisor who has been advising public and private companies on taxation and related business transactions issues since 1979. He was chair of the CTF in 2008 and its acting executive director in 2003.
Kellough retired from DLA Piper in March of 2016 after practising with the national tax group since 2008. His contributions to the CTF include serving on the editorial board of the Canadian Tax Periodical, as a governor, equally a member of the executive committee and as chair.
Theo Ling honoured by Financial Times
The Financial Times has recognized Baker & McKenzie'south Theo Ling of Toronto, who led the development of DataComplianceIQ, the firm'due south unique data solution for clients, equally amidst the ten most innovative lawyers in North America.

DLA Piper, Gowling, Norton Rose top customer service survey
A Legal Calendar week survey has named three multinational police force firms with offices in Canada, DLA Piper, Gowling WLG and Norton Rose Fulbright, as amongst the top twenty police force firms providing the best level of overall service to their clients.
Legal Week surveyed more than 750 in-house lawyers and senior executives at large corporations and asked them to score firms confronting a range of criteria including commercial acumen, fee arrangements, innovation, relationships and teamwork.

LSUC moves to stop systemic racism
The Law Social club of Upper Canada has approved the terminal report by the Challenges Faced by Racialized Licensees Working Group.
Working Together for Change: Strategies to Address Issues of Systemic Racism in the Legal Professions – Nov 2016, contains 13 recommendations designed to accost issues of systemic racism in the legal professions.
Some of the terminal written report's recommendations include:
· the evolution of a demographic data inclusion index for legal workplaces of at to the lowest degree 25 licensees;
· the adoption of equality, multifariousness and inclusion principles and practices; and
· standing professional development programs on topics of equality and inclusion in the profession.
